Coral Bay
Coral Bay is one of the most beautiful and sandy beaches in Paphos and it can be base point to discover places like Troodos Mountains or fishing villages of Latchi and Polis. Sparkling clear waters are excellent for swimming, diving and other water sports. Some of the best hotels and restaurants are located here and one can shop here for fish and local Cyprus delicacies. The seawaters glimmer in the night and one can enjoy the view by sitting in a nearby tavern sipping a local glass of wine.
Lara Bay
The Lara Beach is also known as the turtle beach as it is famous for its turtle sanctuary to protect green and loggerhead turtles. Located to the north of Paphos in the Akamas Peninsula, the mountains meet the sea where one can roam around the unsurfaced tracks that are several miles long. One can also see a rare view of the monk seal that is an endangered species. The ideal way to reach the beach is by boat, from Paphos to Lara.
Latchi Beach
Latchi fishing village and its beach is located in the unspoilt Akamas Peninsula, 2 miles away from Polis. The beach is quiet and serene, away from the maddening crowd of the city. Before it became a popular tourist destination, it was a sponge diving area, but sponges are not seen anymore. Ideal for scuba diving and swimming, there are little taverns and cafes along the shore, which specialize in seafood.
Pachyammos Beach
Located along the Pachyammos Bay, this is one of the six beaches of Paphos that was awarded the Blue Flag based on environmental management criteria like sewage treatment, coastal planning and protection, bathing water quality, etc. It is a narrow beach and popular among the tourists due to its location and convenience from the city. The beach is owned by the Paphos municipality and has special facilities for the handicapped people.
Yeroskipou Beach
The Yeroskipou Beach is located approximately 3 kms away from the Paphos harbour. One of the most popular beaches in Paphos, there is small private green area with sun beds, where one could spend some money and rent it to use the sun beds. Major beach volleyball tournaments are played at this beach. There is a privately owned restaurant offering various kinds of snacks and drinks and also some board games. Just a stone’s throw away is the Luna Park for the children. The shoreline of the beach is pebbled with clear waters. There is small area for children where the water is not deep and they can also enjoy the seawaters.
Agios Georgios
Agios Georgios is located a little away from Coral Bay and is a small beach settled at the base of the sharp cliffs. The beach is protected from the sea by the large harbour. The beach is good for swimming and relaxing. The Agios Georgios chapel is situated on the cliffs nearby the beach.
Petra tou Romiou
Known as Aphrodite’s birthplace, this place has got a mythological and historical value, which makes it the most visited beach of Paphos. It is said that it was here that Aphrodite emerged from the sea foam and is a popular place for romantic couples. The rocks that surround the sea have another story to tell about the Byzantine guard Digenis Akritas who used them to destroy the Arab ships.
Pharos Lighthouse Beach
The Pharos beach is a family beach located on the Tomb of Kings road in Paphos. There is a pebble and rock beach with some patches of sand in between. There is a bar where one can hire sun beds and umbrellas. It is easily accessible as the bus stop is situated just outside the beach.
Paphos Municipal Beaches
Along the coast of Kato Paphos there are a number of small beaches. All the famous and big hotels are located along or near their coastline. There are enough facilities for children and adults and are within close reach of the taverns. These beaches are very popular among children.
