Theatre

Paphos has immense pride of its culture and tradition and the whole year is filled with musical concerts, plays and dramas. Most of the concepts behind the theatrical plays and dramas revolve around Cypriot or Greek mythology legends and therefore are very interesting as well as entertaining. Classical music concerts are as popular as modern concerts such as jazz and rock. There a number of jazz and music festivals all year round that are organised in theatres as well as in bars and pubs. Paphos Youth Theatre
The Paphos Youth Theatre’s main aim is to bring out talent of children of all ages and boost their confidence through performance related skills. Various methods like group work, role-play, characterization, and observation; listening, imagination, vocal expression and behaviour management are implemented to bring out their full potential. The children express themselves in the form of stage plays, drama, dances and singing.

Paphos Ancient Odeon

The 2nd century theatre is located in the north eastern part of Paphos on the slopes of the Fabrica Hill. The theatre is built using well-hewn limestone blocks and even today it is used to stage concerts, plays and dramas. The most famous festival is the Ancient Greek Drama, which goes on for one month is held at the Ancient Odeon.

Medieval Castle Square

Many operas and festivals are organised at the Medieval Castle Square at the Medieval castle in Paphos. Located near the Paphos fort, the fort is a favourite venue for any stage performances. The main event that is organised at the Square is the Paphos Aphrodite Festival which is held every September and is one of the main events in Cyprus.
