Cyprus and especially the town of Paphos is a great place to celebrate your New Years Eve. The warm weather and sunshine give you an opportunity to experience the joys of summer even in the winter months. Although some resorts close on the east coast in winter, Paphos has some great hotels you can visit as well as beaches (head a few miles up the coast to Coral Bay for some of the best). The picturesque harbour with its iconic castle will be decorated with festive lights for the season while you are also within easy reach of the spectacular unspoiled scenery of the Akamas peninsula, the Tombs of the Kings and the tranquil traditional harbour villages of Polis and Latchi.

New Years Eve Fireworks

While the town itself doesn’t have official fireworks show for New Year’s Eve, many hotels and private parties launch their own pyrotechnic displays. so if you're anywhere with a decent vantage point you'll see some fireworks for sure.

You’ll find a lot of gala dinners held on the occasion of New Year’s Eve which typically include lavish buffets, plenty of drinks and entertainment. You don’t have to be a guest at that particular hotel to attend these parties. A good sign to look out for is that the place is full of locals as well as tourists. You will need to make sure you book your place well in advance though - some of the best hotels to check out are the luxurious Elysium, the Louis Phaethon, Almyra, Alexander the Great or up in Coral Bay  at the Coral Beach Hotel or Crown Resort. We recommend hiring a car or else the public transport in Coral Bay is pretty decent.

NYE Restaurants & Bars

Many of the hotels and local restaurants offer special New Year’s Eve menus but you’ll need to book your spot in advance for more popular places. If you want some entertainment post-dinner then head to the many bars and clubs in the harbour area and the adjacent aptly named Bar Street.
